Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Athenium ("we", "us") handles personal information collected through the AthStudio publisher portal. The Plinth reader marketplace has its own privacy policy for readers.

• Account details — name and email address, provided through your AthID account; publishing-house details and team-member emails you add.
• Publishing content — manuscripts, covers, author names and book metadata you upload for publication.
• Payout details — the payout account information needed to settle your sales, managed through AthID and our payment providers. We do not store full bank or card numbers.
• Usage information — standard technical logs (IP address, browser, pages accessed) used for security, rate limiting and service improvement.
• Access requests — details you submit through the early-access form (name, email, organisation, message).

• operating the publishing pipeline and marketplace listings;
• authenticating you and protecting accounts (via AthID);
• processing sales and settling payouts;
• responding to support requests and access applications;
• security monitoring, fraud prevention and legal compliance.

We do not sell personal information.

Content and data are hosted with reputable cloud providers (including infrastructure in Australia and the United States). Published books are stored in encrypted form; each sold copy also has a permanent public ownership record that contains no reader or publisher personal information beyond the book's public metadata (title, author, cover).

We share personal information only with:

• service providers who help us run the platform (hosting, email, payments), under contractual confidentiality;
• the Plinth marketplace, for the public book metadata you choose to publish (title, author name, cover, description);
• authorities where the law requires it.

Account data is kept while your account is active. Draft manuscripts and working files can be deleted on request. Published books and their sale records are retained permanently so that readers' purchased copies keep working — archiving a book stops new sales but does not delete it. Financial records are kept as required by law.

You can access and correct your account information in AthID and AthStudio, and you may contact us to request access to, correction of, or (where the retention rules above allow) deletion of your personal information. If you have a privacy concern, contact us first; you may also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
